How eBay Seller Fees Work
Every time you sell an item on eBay, you pay a final value fee based on the total sale amount (item price + shipping). The percentage depends on your item category, whether you have an eBay Store subscription, and your seller performance level.
Here's what eBay charges on each sale:
- Final value fee — a percentage of the total sale (item plus postage), set by category and marketplace
- Per-order fee — a small fixed fee on every order
- International fee — surcharge on cross-border sales (varies by marketplace)
- Promoted listing fee — optional ad cost (percentage you set)
- VAT / GST — UK business sellers pay 20% VAT on eBay fees; eBay.com.au fees already include GST
Top Rated sellers receive a 10% discount on final value fees. On eBay.com a Basic Store or above lowers the final value fee. On eBay.co.uk a Shop does not: it gives you free listings instead.
