Chrome Extension — data practices
The DropSync Chrome Extension is a browser-based tool that helps eBay sellers automate product listing, inventory tracking, competitor research, and price monitoring. The following explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored.
Data accessed by the extension
To perform its core functions, the extension reads data from web pages you visit on supported e-commerce platforms. This includes:
- eBay — listing details, pricing, item specifics, seller hub data, active listings, sold history, and order information on your own eBay account pages
- Amazon — product titles, prices, images, ASINs, availability, and review data from product and search pages
- AliExpress — product titles, prices, images, product IDs, and availability from product and search pages
- Other supported suppliers — similar product data from Walmart, Etsy, Home Depot, and other supported platforms as needed for listing and price comparison
This data is used solely to facilitate product listing, price monitoring, inventory syncing, and competitor research within the extension and web app. We do not collect, transmit, or sell this data to any third party.
Data stored locally
The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage (chrome.storage.local):
- Your extension settings and preferences (e.g. markup rules, listing templates, domain selection)
- Product data gathered during listing, tracking, and scanning operations
- Listing templates and image overlay configurations
- Progress states for bulk operations (Listing Hub, Inventory Sync, Competitor Scanner)
This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use a feature that syncs with the web application.
Browser permissions
The extension requests the following browser permissions, each required for specific functionality:
- Tabs & Active Tab — to open and manage marketplace pages during automated listing, tracking, and scanning operations
- Storage — to save your settings, templates, and operational data locally on your device
- Scripting — to read product data from marketplace pages and interact with eBay's listing tools
- Cookies — to maintain your authenticated sessions on eBay and supplier websites during automated operations
- Clipboard — to enable copy/paste functionality for product data and listing content
- Web Navigation & Web Request — to detect page loads and coordinate multi-step operations across marketplace tabs
- Host permissions — the extension requires access to e-commerce platform domains (eBay, Amazon, AliExpress, etc.) to read product data and interact with listing tools. Access is only used on pages you navigate to or pages the extension opens to perform requested operations.
Remote services
Certain extension features communicate with our backend services hosted on Google Cloud Platform (Firebase). This includes:
- Authentication — verifying your DropSync account and subscription status
- Credit tracking — recording AI listing credit usage against your subscription allowance
- Template syncing — syncing image templates between the web app and extension when you choose to do so
We do not transmit your browsing history, personal browsing data, or the content of pages you visit to our servers. Only data strictly necessary for the above functions is communicated.
Web application — data practices
The DropSync web application at app.dropsync.io provides a dashboard for managing listings, inventory sync, competitor scanning, product sourcing, and account settings. The web app communicates with the Chrome extension via a secure content script bridge.
Account data
When you create a DropSync account, we collect and store:
- Your email address (used for authentication and account communications)
- Your subscription plan and credit balance
- Your extension settings and preferences that you choose to sync
Operational data
When using the web app's tools, the following data may be temporarily processed:
- Product data retrieved through the extension (titles, prices, images) for display in the web app interface
- Listing configurations and bulk operation settings
- Competitor scan results and product sourcing data
- Order tracking data from your eBay account for inventory management
This operational data is processed to provide the service and is not shared with third parties.
Website — data collection
When you visit our marketing website at dropsync.io, we may collect:
- Your name and email address when you sign up for our newsletter, download a free guide, or submit a contact form
- Payment and billing information when you purchase a subscription (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store your card details)
- Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically through cookies and analytics tools

Subscription payments are processed securely by a third-party payment provider — we never see or store your credit card details.
We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services within the Chrome extension itself.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to help the site function properly and to understand how visitors interact with it.
- Essential cookies — required for the website and web application to function (e.g. authentication, session management). These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These are optional and can be declined.
The Chrome extension uses browser cookies solely to maintain your authenticated sessions on eBay and supplier websites during automated operations. It does not set any tracking or advertising cookies.
You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings at any time.

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:
- All communications between the extension, web app, and our servers use HTTPS encryption
- Authentication is handled through industry-standard security practices
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details
- Extension data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in sandboxed storage
- Access to backend services is restricted to authenticated users only
While we take all reasonable precautions, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
